Don’t Let Pests Ruin Your Day

If your home is infested with pests, you may have a hard time chasing them off. Trying to rid yourself of pests can cost a lot of money and take up much of your time. Use the advice described here to solve your pest problem before it gets any worse.

A good way to prevent pests is by vacuuming your carpets well and often. Vacuum your smaller rugs often as well. Vacuuming picks up ants, bugs, cockroaches and other insects that are living inside your home. When you finish vacuuming, dispose of the bag or empty the canister.

Begin your pest control from ground zero. Try to keep the pest from eating, and you can starve it out. The pests came there looking for something, whether it was for food, shelter or something else. Make sure you search for food scraps lying around, any water leaks in your plumbing, and openings in your home.

Is your home infested with ants? There are many home remedies, but one effective one is mixing sugar with borax. The sugar lures the ants in with its sweet smell, while the borax kills them dead. To create this mixture, get yourself a quart jar, and use a cup of sugar and a cup of borax. Sprinkle the mixture along the foundation and baseboards of the home.

If rats and mice have previously posed problems, avoid planting trees near the house. When trees are too close, rodents can climb them and get into your attic and roof. Therefore, you should plant trees a minimum of 15 feet away.

Mint is a great deterrent for keeping mice away. Plant some mint near your home’s foundation. These plants will repel mice. Put mint leaves in the areas where you have seen mice in your home. This usually repels mice, but you must always use fresh mint leaves.

Clearly, it’s a lot easier for pests to invade your home than for you to get rid of them. By using these tips, however, you should be better equipped to give them battle. An out of hand problem is going to require an exterminator.
